"And that's how my parents died." Angela said, with a frown. She had just finished telling Dr. North about how her parents had died in a bad car accident when she was only 5 years old. The other driver had been drunk and he got out of the wreck perfectly fine. "It's terrible how the most innocent people die, but the people who were in the wrong get out perfect." she said, a tear running down her cheek, making her mascara run.

Harper nodded, the creases in his face deepening a bit as he scratched down a few illegible words on his notepad. "Well, talking about it is the first step to recovery. You're well on your way." He forced a smile as he held the tissue box out to her.

He's such a nice guy! She thought. She pulled a tissue out of the box and blew her nose. "I'm hoping this will help me get over the nightmares. They're getting really bad. Sometimes I can't sleep. It's affecting my schoolwork." she said, dabbing at her eyes.

Harper rubbed his slightly stubbly chin, thinking about what to do. "We could send you in for a sleep analysis, you know, in a sleep lab, or we could just talk about it," he said softly, looking into her eyes. "Do you want to talk about it?" Angela was a new patient, so he was still making sure she was comfortable with him.

"I'd rather do both, I'm more of a, prove it to me, then talk to me about it, girl." she said, rubbing her eyes once more. She looked back into his eyes, they were bright and pretty. He was one of the few people that she actually trusted with her feelings.

Harper nodded with understanding, then scrawled "sleep lab" on his notepad. He fell silent for a moment as he studied her pixie-like face and red-and-white hair. He mentally slapped himself, remembering with remorse the last time he'd become attached to a patient. "Alright, that works. I'll set up an appointment for you," he said suddenly, as if he'd just woken up from a long nap.

"Ok, Thanks Dr. North. Or, Harper, if I may?" she asked subtly. She liked calling people by their first names more than Mr...or Mrs... She looked at him, his short brown hair, beautiful eyes, and tall stature, studied him. Trying desperately to figure him out, or at least read his facial expressions, but she failed. As with everything else in life. she thought. Nothing but a big failure.

"Oh yes, of course. I'd like you to think of me as... well, not a friend, necessarily, but someone you can trust. Nothing we say in this room leaves it. And you're welcome." He smiled weakly, struggling to make their eye contact not feel awkward. She's too young for you. Just like the other one, he thought, biting his lip.

She smiled, for the first time in a few months, and thanked him again before exiting the room and finding her foster mom, Paris. They walked to the car and Angela couldn't stop thinking about those eyes, those brilliant, gorgeous eyes. Stop that Angela! Said one side of her mind, but the other side said, It's ok. These feelings are ok, Angela. She was so confused, she wasn't sure what to think, she knew she could trust him, but he was way too old for her. It would never work.

Harper sighed as he watched Angela leave the room. He found it ironic that he talked to people about their love lives every day and yet couldn't seem to get his own on track. After another sigh, he put his notepad in his desk and left the room as well, headed for his car.

Her mom drove her home, and when they got there Angela went right straight to her room. She laid on her bed and thought about Harper's big hands, and his brilliant eyes. They were amazing, she just needed to know what color they were. She couldn't tell earlier. She thought and thought until she fell asleep. She didn't have any dreams, which was good but, she actually woke up refreshed, renewed, and most importantly, not exhausted.

Harper drove home in his blue Volvo and parked in the garage attached to his quaint suburban residence. The garage was built to house two cars, but he had only one. Though he had enough money to buy another, there simply was no need. After stepping inside the house, he switched on some classical music before falling asleep on his suede sofa. Jumbled images of patients and lovers past danced in his dreams.

She woke up and immediately wanted to tell Dr. North about her wonderful rest. But sadly, her next appointment wasn't until after school. By then, she'd probably have so much bad things to talk about she'd forget to tell him about her sleep. She ran downstairs and poured a bowl of her favorite cereal, Coco Puffs, and switched on the television. Yelch, Discovery Channel. She thought. She shamefully switched it to her favorite TV show, Spongebob, and giggled as Squidward desperately tried to get Spongebob and Patrick to shut up.

Harper awoke the next morning still dressed in his work clothes from the day before. Even his shiny leather shoes were still strapped to his feet. The clock hanging above the couch indicated that he was running late for work. It wasn't like him to wake up this late. Wondering what had caused this, he strode out to his car without fixing himself up at all.

[[Ts? what's that?]]

[Laika]

[[Time skip. Like, to next appointment. And Sarey's all upset at me. Look at her new post. ]]

[WatchingTheDetectives]

[[*Sniff Sniff* I is saddened now. I think I'm gonna cry. ]]

[Laika]

[[I know. Are you going to quit too? I thought this whole idea was so much fun, and Sarey has to go and be all jealous. Meh. ]]

[WatchingTheDetectives]

[[I'm not gonna quit. But, you intimidate me. You're so much better than me at this. But no, I will not quit.]]

[Laika]

[[I'm sorry. Practice makes perfect, chica, and I've had one hell of a lot of practice. So cut yourself some slack. I'm glad you're not quitting, though. So, ts?]]

[[Okey dokey. Ts.]]

After school Angela walked home, ate a snack and jogged to the Therapist. Her mom wasn't home yet, so she had to run. She entered the office and signed in at the front desk. It was a matter of 5 minutes before she was called back for her appointment. That day she had put on shorts and a small tank-top because it was supposed to be really hot out. She had straightened her hair too. "Hi Dr. North." She said softly.

[Laika]

Harper blushed slightly upon seeing Angela enter his office. All day he'd been in a daze, hardly remembering which appointments were when. "Oh, hi," he said. "And you can call me Harper, if you want. Really. Go ahead and have a seat." He said the words gently and with caution as he leaned forward in his leather chair.

She smiled again and sat down on the lounge chair. "Thanks, Harper." She said smiling. "I slept amazingly last night. No nightmares for once." And my day wasn't all that bad either. All day thinking of you, anticipating this appointment. She thought. She knew she shouldn't be thinking this, but she just couldn't stop. She really liked him. She extended her legs on the chair and leaned back.

Harper felt a shiver run down his spine as Angela said his name. He immediately forced himself to snap out of it and get back to work. "That's good... did you do anything differently yesterday that might've caused that?" he asked, oblivious to the fact that they were having similar thoughts about each other.

"Well..." She paused, thinking of what she did. She thought about him for several hours, but that would sound weird. "I thought about this person that I like before I went to bed. And actually, I had a dream about them." she said, trying not to make it obvious.
