Bill retrieved two beers from the cooler in his van and sauntered towards Holly. "Here," he said as he noticed that she was wearing headphones. "Nice phones," he said simply, even allowing a half smile to shape his lips. He cracked open his own beer, letting the pungent aroma fill his nostrils.

Miranda nodded slowly, as if she understood where he was coming from. Which she did, on some level. He was so vulnerable, compared to herself, she thought. It seemed that most men were willing to put themselves at the mercy of a beautiful girl like herself. "Should've kept the car. The sun is, like, blazing. We could've used the air conditioning," she said, her tone having the slightest bite and venom.

"Oh, I kept it." he said, pulling the keys out of his pocket. "See?" She probably thought he was an idiot, but honestly, he didn't care. He was just happy to have someone to talk to.

Kale quickly took off the bloody tank top, revealing his pale stomach. "Thanks, Chandra," he said with a small smile, and put on the other tank top. He felt much cleaner now because it smelled like her. "So uh... do you come from around here?" Kale inquired awkwardly, trying to find a subject. He drummed his long fingers on his shrimpy leg.

Holly took the beer and popped it open. The fizzing noise it made sent satisfied chills down her spine. That had always been her favorite part of Pabst; the odor and taste of the beer weren't exactly able to compare with the opening sound of the can. She took a swig and frowned. "You keep this cold?" Holly asked, almost surprised, "So mainstream. This tastes way better warm." Slower this time, she sipped the Pabst and let it cruise down her throat. Oh, well. This was free beer, and she might as well appreciate it.

Chandra smiled and caught herself looking at his bare chest. "Oh, no. I'm from Georgia originally. Then we moved here. I've been here for 2 years now." She said. "Where are you from?" She liked this kid, he seemed nice. She caught herself looking at her feet and looked up at Kale.

Bill blushed slightly, embarrassed, though one wouldn't be able to tell since about half his face was covered with that scratchy, unkempt beard. He had always taken pride in his ultra-hip status, and Holly had just crushed it majorly. He shrugged, acting like he didn't care that someone had just out-hipstered him. "You know what would be really mainstream, then? Cold Budweiser. Those stupid cold-activated cans are for losers with no natural precision for knowing when their beer is cold enough." He looked up at Holly and suddenly had a brilliant idea. "You know what would be great? If all of you people rode with me and my cats." He forced a smile at the odd people surrounding him.

Miranda rolled her eyes almost playfully. "Yeah, but you left the car. Some con artist could've stolen it by now. Hell, I would've if I'd passed it." She glanced at her perfectly French manicured fingernails. Suddenly, a group of people surrounding a van down the street caught her eye. "Stop," she ordered her new companion as her each of her heels clicked a final time on the pavement. She looked at the people, thinking about what losers they must be. Her eyes lit up at the thought of having even more inferiors to boss around.

Robert looked down at his feet, feeling very inferior at the moment. She was right, some con-artist could've picked the lock and hi-jacked the car by now. He looked back up when he heard her heels stop clicking. "Why? What are we stopping for?" he asked, looking around curiously. His eyes followed her gaze and he spotted the group of people huddled around the van. He started walking across the street and looked back at Miranda. "Coming?" he asked.

Chandra looked over at Bill after he suggested the ride in the van, then, looked down at her heels. Her feet were killing her and she needed to rest. "I'm up for it." she said. "I'd love to meet the cats."

Kale shivered. He'd never liked cats in his childhood, and he wasn't about to change his ways. "Okay," he replied softly, looking at the ground. At least Chandra would be there. Otherwise, Kale felt he'd rather get eaten by the zombies than hang out with a bunch of cats. Even just the word made him feel sick.

Holly thought through the proposal as she sipped the cold Pabst. The van sounded inviting, there would be beer, and Bill hopefully enjoyed watching indie films. She could deal with the cats as long as her chinchilla was safe. "Sounds like a good time," murmured Holly, more to herself. She packed her iPod back into her satchel, adjusted her beanie hat, and crushed the beer can in a single squeeze.

Chandra hated the heels she was wearing, but they were the only ones she could find before being chased out of her house by zombies. Speaking of she noticed one crouched beside a wrecked car, starring over at the group. It was a young one too. "Someone with a gun! Shoot it! It's over by that wrecked car there!" She yelled.

With an exasperated sigh, Holly took out her Weatherby rifle and nonchalantly walked over to the zombie. She aimed and fired at about a yard away. "Okay. Can we hit the road now?" she asked with a shrug, a smudge of blood on her cheek.

Bill nodded, taking the final swig out of his beer can before hearing Chandra whine about some zombie. He didn't cringe as Holly shot it, instead grinning a bit. "Yeah, we'd better head out. C'mon, get in the van people. I drive," he monotoned as he stepped inside the bus. He paid no mind to Holly and Chandra's conversation.

Miranda scowled. Was he trying to make her feel inferior by forcing her to catch up? "Yes," she said, bile in her tone, as she stalked off toward him, refusing to run. A slight gasp slipped from her lungs as she heard the gunshot.

"Holly," she answered. What could've been mistaken as a smirk was on her face as she spoke. "And you're Chandra. I heard you talking to emo Leonardo DiCaprio over there." She made a slight gesture in Kale's direction.

Kale pouted, "I'm Kale, and I'm not emo. Just different." His blonde hair covered his face as he continued to look at his feet, and the thick eyeliner he wore began to smudge.

Chandra laughed and helped Kale with his eyeliner problem. She looked up before climbing into the van and saw an emo looking kid and a tall, skinny girl walking towards them. "Bill, do you know them?" she asked. She immediately regretted asking that because it was a stupid question. Of course he didn't, no one knew anyone anymore.

Robert chuckled to himself and continued to walk. He knew this irritated the gorgeous girl and he really didn't want her to leave him, so he slowed down so she could catch up and then continued walking.

Bill, who was sitting serenely in the driver's seat of the van with the door hanging open, heard Chandra's question and shrugged. "Nah. But they can come along if they feel like it." He craved another beer.

Miranda stopped in front of the the group of people, grabbing Robert's wrist forcefully so he'd stop along with her. "Take us along. Our car was stolen," she lied, casting a threatening glance at Robert in case he planned to refute her statement.

Robert felt Miranda grab his wrist and stop abruptly. He yanked his arm away, "No. It wasn...." he stopped, noticing her death glare. "Yeah. It was stolen. We really need a ride." He soon felt inferior again and blushed.

Chandra patted the seat next to her. "Come join the party." She said, rolling her eyes. This was getting a little too crowded for her likings.

Holly sat down in the front next to Bill and checked her satchel to make sure she had everything. After looking through four times, she made a satisfied nod and buckled her seat belt. She didn't usually use seat belts, but Holly didn't want to be caught off-guard if Bill's driving was terrible. Mister Heavenly popped his head out of the satchel, and she sat him on her lap, petting him lightly.

After thanking Chandra for the assistance, Kale took a seat in the back by the window. He felt a cat rub against his leg and bit his tongue. Not gonna scream. Not gonna scream. Not gonna scream. He took a deep breath before saying anything. "How many cats do you have, Bill?"

"Thanks," Miranda said hurriedly, as if she wasn't thankful at all. "C'mon Robbie." She grabbed Robert by the wrist again and dragged him into the van before slamming the door. She breathed a sigh of relief, glad to finally have what would hopefully become a new circle of cronies.

Bill swung his legs into the vehicle and shut the door firmly behind him. He glanced backward at Kale. "Eighteen," he said, bored. A calico cat with two different colored eyes jumped into Bill's lap, and he petted it halfheartedly.

Robert sighed and followed Miranda solemnly with his head down. She was making him feel like such a loser, which he knew he was, but didn't want to admit it. He wished he'd never said anything about the car. He wished he'd never even said anything to her. She was too.....prissy. She was gorgeous though. He climbed into the shady van and sat in the back with a blonde, emo kid, who looked slightly like Leonardo DiCaprio. He looked like an OK kid so he decided to try and talk to him. "Hi...I'm Robert." he said quietly.

Chandra looked at the girl sitting next to her now. She was very pretty and looked nice. "Hi there. I'm Chandra." she said with a smile. There were so many people around here. She thought the world was a desolate, no-man's land after the zombies. She was getting hot so she put down the window next to her and leaned closer to it so it would blow her hair out.

Bill, petting the cat with one hand and gripping the steering wheel with the other, pushed down the van's gas pedal, starting the odd group of companions on their way. Succumbing to his desires, he pulled another beer out of the cooler and cracked it open despite the fact that he was driving.

Miranda smirked upon hearing Robert introduce himself to the other emo kid. They probably had lots of losery things to talk about together, she thought, like what's the right way to cut one's wrists. Her thoughts were interrupted by a rather pretty girl saying hello to her. "Oh, hey," she replied amiably, smiling. She figured she had to make at least one friend in order to insure her success within the group.

"Walkers? What's a walker?" Chandra asked. She felt foolish for not knowing, this girl seemed smart, funny, and she was defiantly pretty. She looked back at Kale and smiled. Looks like he found a new friend. She thought.
